My hair is supremely difficult to manage. Well, perhaps, that’s an exaggeration, but it does tangle pretty fast. Often, my arms ache from trying to brush the knots out. Most days, I just give up and leave the knots where I’ve found them… Luckily, just like a fairy-god-mother, a cruelty-free hair company, Somerfield Beauty, contacted me and asked if I would sample their Professional Hair Mask Cap, designed for damaged hair. I agreed to try and review their product – and oh boy it did not disappoint! Bellow is my honest review of the mask cap. Although, they sent me the products to try, all opinions are my own.

Somerfield Professional Hair Mask Cap – What it claims to do
Hair mask caps are pre-filled with product and claim to strengthen and restore damaged hair. The masks are designed to effectively & efficiently create a perfect thermal environment to deliver product into hair follicles at a molecular level.
“Somerfield Hair Mask Cap uses our proprietary formula including Cysteine Complex to hydrate and nourish damaged hair. The hair cap system traps heat and moisture inside to create the perfect environment for the delivery of our nutrients.” – Somerfield Beauty.
How to use it
- Shampoo hair & use hands to remove water (do not towel dry)
- Gather hair together – I twisted my hair in a loose bun.
- Put hair cap on & secure with sticker.
- Leave for 10-15 minutes.
- “For better results, increase the temperature inside by showering the outter cap with warmer water or using a blow dryer over on mild heat”. – Somerfield Beauty
- Wash and dry.
- Use it once a week to repair damaged hair or once a month after a hair cut to keep it healthier for longer.
My hair type
First things first. My hair is naturally straight but frizzy. It is also quite temperamental. As a teen, I straightened my hair every single day to keep it pin-straight, though now I am reluctant to use hair straighteners, I still use a hair dryer daily. Add some prolonged sun exposure to the mix and you have dry, damaged hair.
I received a box that contained three hair mask caps. Each mask was sealed in individual sachets. Full instructions could be found on the box and the sachets.
My first thought was – great! This is the perfect size to take with me on holiday! With 40ml of product per piece, I could hold an individual sachet in my hand carrier for those sun damage, hair emergencies.
I decided to try the hair mask after a long week in the sun. When it felt most dry. I followed the instructions, gathered my damp hair and put the cap on before securing it with the sticky label. I then massaged the cap over my hair to distribute the product. Although, it was recommended to warm up the mask under the shower or a blowdrier, I simply forgot to do that. Instead, wrapped in a towel, I did some chores around the house.
15 minutes later, I returned to my bathroom and removed the cap. Already, my hair felt softer. I then washed my hair with warm – not hot, water and towel dried it. What a difference it made! Immediately, my hair was so much smoother! But keeping true to my beauty routine, I continued with blow drying my hair – this is something I do everyday. I knew that if the mask was truly worth the hype, this was where it would shine through or disappoint.
Brushing my hair as I blow dried it, my eyes popped wide open – this mask was brilliant! It had worked exactly as promised! I was gobsmacked. My hair was shiny, silky smooth and had no more knots. Also, I loved the “fresh out of hair salon” smell that it left in my hair. It truly felt like a professional treatment. Surprisingly, I could finally run my fingers through my hair without catching any knots. Well done, Somerfield Beauty, you absolutely delivered what you promised to!
