It’s a sunny Thursday morning and I’m up before 6am. I get out of the bed smiling. I am ecstatic about my new haircut – finally, I’ve cut it!
Long hair troubles
I know that I should not complain about my hair but here is the deal: it’s like it has a mind of its own. It grows faster than I can cut it. It grows so fast and it grows so uncomfortably long that it becomes exhaustively difficult to manage it:
- My arms ache just from brushing;
- I don’t colour my hair because it would be expensive to upkeep;
- most days I don’t bother tying my hair up because the weight of it can give me headaches.
So an executive decision was made: to chop it off! (Sorry mum!)
The Box Hair Salon
I visited one of the coolest salons in town, The Box Hair, which uses ethically tested products. I asked for the medium (armpit) length cut. After offering a drink to me and looking at a couple of pictures that I brought of the cut I wanted, my hairdresser advised to have it cut slightly shorter around my face to frame it and to add feathering to soften the cut. With my nod of approval, we began.
She cut the length off right away, then led me to the sink where she softly washed my hair and massaged my scalp – it was divine. Supremely relaxing! She then asked me to come back to my chair and started snipping away. With every piece falling down to the floor I felt liberated.
Hello new hair
After drying and styling my hair, my hairdresser then curled it to complete the look. Here is the finished result:
I am in love with this new hair!
