Fucina is a beautiful, contemporary Italian restaurant situated in the heart of Marylebone, London. As you enter through the impressive ceiling-grazing, wooden doors, you are greeted by a polite host who offers to take your coat and show you to your table. If customer service is on the top of your list for measuring a restaurant experience, then Fucina will not disappoint you.
My most recent visit to Fucina was for a special occasion – Veganuary. Although, Fucina happily adapted their meals to suit my needs previously, this time I had a whole menu I could choose from and I was ecstatic! Having a high-quality vegan menu at non-vegan restaurants is an experience, it’s not just an afterthought. It’s not an adaptation of the existing menu, but a thoughtful presentation that each customer is valued and respected. Even the picky, plant-based foodies.
What at first seemed like a simple list of ingredients – blew me away. I was especially fond of the salad. It had a light brush of citrus dressing, which tasted invigorating. The lemon sorbet was also delicious – light, airy and refreshing. Our waiter explained that pasta, sorbets and bread, are all made in-house. This was truly reflected in the taste and quality of food. It just shows that with some attention to detail, some great wine and attentive waiting staff you can create an exceptional experience that vegans, vegetarians and food-lovers alike can thoroughly enjoy.
