Organic is all the rage in food and skincare. But not all organic & cruelty-free skincare products are made the same. With so many products on the market, it can be difficult to find the best value for money, most effective and best quality organic skincare.
I choose organic because (1) I know that my skin has little chance of absorbing trace pesticides and synthetic chemicals and (2) I know that I am not contributing to environmental degradation: organic farms have 50% of more biodiversity, are more bee-friendly and kinder to the environment.
So if you’re determined to find effective skincare that is cruelty-free, organic and natural, below is my list of top 5 recommended brands – these I have personally used or have purchased for my loved ones who responded well to them. So take a look, try them out and let me know what you think!
1. Whamisa – Korean Organic Beauty
My favourite from this list is Whamisa, a Korean beauty brand that champions organic & cruelty-free skincare. Replacing water with fermented botanicals they truly rank above all other brands for innovation. Most expensive than others on this list, yet highly effective – soothing, blemish control and hydrating qualities are stars of their product lines. For troublesome skin I recommend using Original Organic Flower Toner to balance the PH of your skin after washing, followed by the Organic Flower’s Water Cream – which will help to balance oil production in your skin and leave it soft & supple all day long. You can buy Whamisa on their website, Amazon or at your local Wholefoods.
“No Chemical/Synthetic Preservatives. No Chemical Emollients. No Artificial Fragrances. No Artificial Colors. No Petrochemical Ingredients (mineral oils, silicones). No Parabens. Waterless. Botanical Extracts Only. Against animal testing.” – Whamisa
2. Andalou Naturals – Fruit Stem Cell Science
Another favourite is Andalou Naturals. Andalou is not only organic and cruelty-free, they use non-GMO ingredients, champion fair-trade and many products are gluten-free and/or vegan. It gets better! Andalou support philanthropy – education, equality & empowerment. They are also surprisingly affordable for the quality that you get. Innovation is also their forte. Products are created using patented fruit stem cell science. You can buy Andalou on their US website, at your local Wholefoods, Amazon or at Holland & Barrett.
“We CHAMPION: Cruelty-Free, Eco-Friendly, Vegetarian and Vegan, Fair-Trade, Gluten-Free, Natural, Organic, and Non-GMO Project Verified ingredients.” – Andalou Naturals
3. Dr. Hauschka – Over 50 years of Excellence in Organic Skincare
I was about 18 when I was first recommended Dr. Hauschka products and I was not disappointed then, nor am I disappointed now. Dr. Hauschka is a brand that champions sustainability, working in cooperative partnerships with other brands and suppliers. They produce quality skincare that’s cruelty-free and organic. Dr. Hauschka offers skincare advice on their website to help you choose a product that is right for you. You can buy Dr. Hauschka products online from their website, LoveLula.com (my favourite online store) or from an authorised shop.
“[Dr. Hauschka products are] Free from Synthetic fragrances, Dyes, Preservatives, Mineral oils, Parabens, Silicones or PEG’s. Never tested on animals. Created from the highest-quality bio-dynamic, organic and wild-harvested plant ingredients. Every plant’s origin is researched, making sure it comes from an ecologically and ethically sound source. Packaging designed to keep products free from artificial preservatives. Skincare products proudly display the mark of NATRUE certification.” – Love Lula
5. REN – Natural Skincare
REN champion natural products that are friendly to your skin. This means no synthetic fragrance, pore-blocking petrochemicals, sulfate detergents, silicones, synthetic colours, animal ingredients and parabens. I recommend Ren’s Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask for radiant skin. You can buy Ren on their website, FeelUnique.com, Amazon and LoveLula.
“As part of our aim to produce only Clean products we believe that sourcing organic essential oils and plant oils wherever possible is worthwhile. We are already using a significant number of organic plant extracts and oils and we are working to ensure that ultimately all the plant extracts and oils we use are organic” – REN
